For Young Adult Singles
Young Adult Ministry includes college age as well as people in their 20's and 30's. We also have a group of Young Adult married couples, called The Honeymooners. If you or a young adult you know would like to be included in our 3-mail updates, send an e-mail to Jim at: jpapandrea@holyfamilyparish.org. Young adults get a weekly e-mail letting them know everything that is going on for them.
College Ministry
Adult Faith/Young Adults is a partering with Youth Ministry to minister to our college students. If you have a college student who is away at college, let us know. We need to know their name(s), e-mail address, school and school address. There is also a Harper College Catholic ministry, sponsored by Holy Family Catholic Community. If you or someone you know is a Harper student, faculty or staff, let Jim know.
- College Ministry - Among many opportunities to gather and plan activities, this group sends care packages to college students.
- Harper College Catholics - Campus ministry outreach for Catholic students at Harper College in Palatine. Projects include brown bag lunches.
- NW Suburban Social Events
Happy Hour Nights - Quarterly social gatherings held at various bars and restaurants throughout the year offers an opportunity to outreach to young adults.
Game Nights and Outings - Join us for softball games, ski trips, bowling, board games, outings and many other fun events.
For Married Couples
- The Honeymooners - Join us for conversation on the spiritual and practical issues of marriage-also a great opportunity to meet other couples.
- Couples' Night Out - This evening is held on the second Saturday of each month (September through May) after the 4:30pm mass beginning September 8, 2007.There will be a short presentation based on the book Getting the Love You Want, by Harville Hendrix. Then plan to go out for dinner with your spouse, talk about the content of the talk and enjoy some quality time together.
- Marriage Workshops- Speakers present topics of interest throughout the year, as well as offering workshops and seminars to enrich your marriage.
- Join us Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 7:00pm when Scott Haltzman, M.D., will discuss his book The Secrets of Happily Married Men: Eight Ways to Win Your Wife's Heart."
- Also, guest speaker Everett Worthington, Ph.D. will talk about the Dimensions of Forgiveness on March 5, 2008 at 7:00pm.
- Evening of Romance - This annual evening of fun will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008. Renew your marriage vows at mass and join us for a delicious catered dinner, dancing and entertainment.
- Christian Family Movement is for families of all ages and sizes. Gather monthly in a large group. Children are then supervised as they watch a movie, play games, or play in the nursery.
For All Young Adults
- Bible Journey - Every Monday night, young adults in the 20's and 30's meet to socialize and talk about their faith. The group meets at 7:00pm in The Knuckle at Holy Family and then attends Bible Journey class at 8:00pm. Join at any time - no Bible study experience is necessary. Come and check it out, no obligation.
- YACHT Club - Young Adult Catholics Hanging Together is an acronym for the monthly dinner and speaker series held on the third Thursday of each month at Champp's American Restaurant in Schaumburg. This event, planned by YAM-NW invited young adults to gather over dinner and drinks and hear great theology and stories of faith.
- Service Opportunites are available throughout the year, such as PADS, Habitat for Humanity, St. Joseph Home for the Elderly.
