Spirit Journey

(Also called Spiritual Direction)

Spiritual Companioning/ Spiritual Direction
Are spiritual directors today's "new personal trainers"? Some might think so. But a deeper look at Catholic spiritual direction makes clear that it is not about getting the world to move in your direction, but about you moving in God's direction. Spiritual direction takes you into the mystery of life in Christ.

What really is Catholic spiritual direction? It is simply a relationship of God-centered listening; in scripture, in conversation, and in the spaces between the worlds. The director listens with on ear to the directee and with the other ear to the Holy Spirit. Spiritual direction is "holy conversation."

Spiritual direction can help someone spiritually grow and mature into one's authentic self. To listen to our own inner wisdom, the inner Spirit speaking to us, leading us closer to the Almighty. We are here to live, as Jesus lived, generously and lovingly for the sake of the world. It's not only important to work on our outer, physical body, but being in touch with our inner being and the Truth.

For information on Spiritual Direction, see the Welcome Desk in the Narthex for a brochure, or call the office at 847-359-0042 and ask for the Spiritual Direction/Companioning line.
