Kairos

What is Kairos?
Kairos is a Greek word that means “the Lord’s time”. The Kairos retreat subsequently is a 3 night, 4 day experience for juniors and seniors in high school that enables the participant to spend time with peers, adults and teen leaders in order to get to know themselves, others and God more deeply. Currently at HF we experience the Kairos retreat with both St. Mary parish from Buffalo Grove and Our Lady of the Wayside parish from Arlington Heights. Kairos is an intense retreat in a safe environment led by trained teen leaders who have already attended the retreat as juniors.

Why go?
There are many reasons to attend the Kairos retreat with no-one who goes disappointed they did! Kairos for HF teens began in 2004 and continues to thrive because of the retreatants coming home and being inspired by their experience, and then in turn encouraging their friends to do like wise.

How much?
Kairos is held at Cabrini retreat center in Des Plaines where the teens have their own private rooms for reflection and rest. Accommodation is single sex by floor and chaperoned by parish staff. The cost for 3 nights' accommodation, 12 meals, bus and materials is $350 per person. We realize that this is expensive and cost should not be a prohibitive factor. • Kairos 15 retreat Friday-Monday, February 15-18, 2013

Who Can Attend?
Junior and Senior teens need not attend HF parish in order to go on Kairos as many teens from surrounding parishes attend this inter-parish retreat experience. Kairos is an experience of a lifetime! Don’t miss the opportunity.

Where?
Kairos takes place at Cabrini Retreat Center in Des Plaines. Participants will depart from Holy Family Catholic Community in Inverness and return to St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove.
