Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children are called from Mass to the chapel after the Opening Prayer to break open and share the Sunday Gospel at the children's level of understanding. There is no registration; all children grades K-6 are welcome. The children return to their families in the Church for the celebration of the Eucharist.

Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLW) aims to break open the Word in a manner and at a level that touches the heart and spirituality of each child.

During the 4:30, 9:00 and 11:00 mass, the Presider calls the children forward to be blessed as they are dismissed to the Chapel or the lower level meeting rooms.

The children’s lectionary is used to proclaim the Gospel and many different approaches are used to Break open the Word: skits, activities, games, discussions. We conclude with Prayers of the People and return to the main assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

CLW is open to all children in grades K-6.
No prior sign up is necessary.
Parents are always welcome to attend with your child.

For more information, please call the Worship Office at 847-359-0042.

We are always looking for adults and youth willing to share his/her faith with the children. Approximately 75 facilitators (Catechists / teachers) are needed to reach the estimated 300+ children who participate in the Children's Liturgy of the Word every week.

Liturgy Plans and activities are distributed to facilitators one week prior. New CLW facilitators must coordinate with the Worship Office and attend a training session. Please check the bulletin weekly for current CLW information.
