NEW FACE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD MINISTRY
Neighborhood Ministry (NM) has emerged as a virtual neighborhood meaning there are no hard boundaries, only soft ones. Neighborhoods will no longer be defined by a number, but by a general area. The fences have come down and the neighborhoods opened up. Initially, NM is going to focus on two areas of ministry.
One is to become service-oriented assisting the Pastoral Care Ministry in meeting the requested needs of those under their care. The other is to work with Development to communicate to local businesses current events and programs offered at Holy Family.
As we begin a new fiscal year with a parish theme focused on “Strengthening the Bonds of Community”, a new vision for NM emerges. “Do you know who your neighbor is?” (Mother Teresa) Our neighbor is someone living on our own street as well as someone living miles away. Our neighbor is someone depending on a PADS site for shelter. “Knowing who your neighbor is” strengthens the bonds of community. Jesus calls us to be neighbors to all our brothers and sisters. But, that’s a tall order. How is Holy Family Neighborhood Ministry addressing that call?
NM Representatives are needed to offer assistance in their residing area to serve in one or more of the following opportunities:
Pastoral Care opportunities**
-
Prepare and deliver a meal
Provide short visitations
Provide a wellness check
Other requests as they come up
Transportation to and from doctor appointments or running short errands
Communication opportunities
-
Deliver marketing brochures and flyers to local businesses
**Training is provided and will last approximately 15 minutes.
