Funerals . . .

Funeral Rites Ministry Ministers assist grieving families through funeral liturgy preparation, worship and semi-annual memorial Masses. This is an on-call ministry, Monday through Saturday, 9:00am to noon. Team members rotate assignments. (We have approximately 75 funerals each year. Bereavement training is provided at Deanery level and locally (on-the-job training) at Holy Family.)

Bereavement Ministry The Bereavement Ministry serves any Holy Family Parishioner who has experienced a recent significant personal loss through death in their life.  In addition to maintaining contact with the bereaved and offering a listening presence, this Ministry also provides and maintains listings of grief resources such as local support groups, private grief counselors, internet resources as well as a bibliography of suggested reading materials appropriate to the death to assist the bereaved through the grieving process.

Funeral Luncheon Ministry This is another “on-call” ministry. Team members provide food, set-up and serve after funerals. They are in need of both men and women for this ministry. There is a need to increase the ranks of funeral luncheon ministers so we can “share the load.”

Funeral Luncheon Food Donation Parishioners prepare salads or deserts, which they bring to church on the day of the funeral luncheon. The more people we have in this ministry, the better we are able to spread the work, so people can be called less often during the year.
