New Ministers of Care Training
This program is designed for persons to be commissioned as Ministers of Care who will be visiting and/or take the Eucharist to residents of nursing homes, the hospitalized, and the homebound. There are 6 sessions which meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 until 9:PM. The dates begin on September 14 and run thru October 19. This year the program will be held at Holy Family! If you are interested in this wonderful ministry please contact Jerry Stecker at 847-907-3417. We need lots of folks who are willing to help a little.

Care for The Caregiver Conference will be held Saturday September 11, 2010 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center at 800 Biesterfield Rd., Elk Grove Village from 8:AM until 12:PM when lunch will be served. New Alzheimer Support Group!
Starting in September 2010 -Sessions will be held 2 times a month. Join either group.
First Wednesday at 1PM to 2:30 PM and Third Wednesday at 7:30 PM – 9:00PM.
Groups will be open to any family members or friends who are looking for information or interested in talking to other people experiencing the challenges associated with Alzheimer's Disease. Anyone who has a family member exhibiting any signs of dementia regardless of the cause is welcometo attend. Call Kathie847-202-1294 for further information
Goals for the Alzheimer Support group:
1) Provide a safe place for caregivers to share their difficulties and heartaches with others.
2) Offer a place to talk with other people who are going through or have gone through the same experiences and learn techniques that have worked for them.
3) Learn how to communicate more easily with people who have Alzheimer's disease.
4) Learn about common behaviors and helpful interventions.
5) Provide commonsense tips which should make it easier to care for a family member.

Seasons of Hope
Bereavement Group to Begin
If you’re in need of consolation after losing a loved one our Christ-centered faith sharing group is for you.
It meets for six weeks beginning October 5, 2010. Prayer, scripture, faith sharing, and fellowship begin at 7:00 PM.

New Memorial Book for Deceased Parishioners
Pastoral Care is creating a Memory Book of deceased parishioners. We need the prayer cards of parishioners who have died during the last 25 years- 1985-2010. The prayer cards will be placed in a Memorial Book which will be on permanent display in the narthex.
Please drop off any prayer cards you have of loved ones at the parish office. _____________________
Alexian Brothers has many good programs in the near future:
"When Praying Isn't Enough" A workshop for ministry leaders and professionals. Option 1 is on Tuesday, August 31 9:00 - 10:30 AM. Option 2 is for the same day but from 12:00 - 1:30 pm. registration is free but please call to register 1-866-253-9426.
Alexian has a few support groups which should interest some:
"Companions Through Grief" a twice monthly drop-in support group for bereaved individuals. Each month there are different topics discussed. There are two sets of dates during the month. Option 1 is the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. The 2nd option is the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. "Journey Through Grief" is a 6 week course that will explore the tasks of grieg and provide an opportunity to share experiences with others who have lost a loved one. Each session will provide the support of other people and education about the journey. Option 1: Thursdays 7:00 - 8:00 PM September 9, 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14. Option 2: Wednesdays, 10:00 - 11:30 AM October 27, November 3,10,17,December 1,8. Option 3: Thursdays 7 - 8:30 PM November 4,11,18,December 2,9,16.
