Kairos

What is Kairos?
Kairos, which means the “Lord's time,” is a Christian experience of prayer and reflection, run by a team of adults and students. Kairos retreats are well known through the Chicagoland area. Many Catholic high schools have Kairos retreats on a regular basis.. This particular Kairos is unique because of its diversity. The youth who participate in and lead this particular Kairos come from both public and Catholic high schools. This retreat is led by trained peer leaders. With appropriate adult leadership from priests and male and female lay ministers, we feel this Kairos is the best possible environment for a Catholic retreat. And even though a participant need not be Catholic to be on the retreat, this diversity creates a safe environment to understand the richness of our Catholic Community.

Why go?
This is the question you should really ask! Why should I spend my time reflecting on my life at a retreat? It is hard to know until you have tried. Maybe you are scared about going off to college. Maybe you are trying to decide if you want to go to college. Maybe you are hurt. Maybe you are healed—and wish to rejoice. Maybe you don?t know if God really cares. Maybe you are scared to find out how much He does.

There are so many reasons those who have already gone on Kairos could give you about why you should go, but first you have to choose to trust them. Thousands of teens go on Kairos each year. They go and discover who they really are and how they want to live. They come for their own reasons. All leave changed.

Maybe the best reason to go is that someone cares enough about you to invite you. Talk to past Kairos participants , youth ministers, or priests and ask them why. Even if you decide not to go, you owe it to yourself to explore why so many people consider that a retreat is essential experience in their lives.

How much?
The total cost of the retreat is $350. We realize that this is expensive. Please do not let the cost be a prohibitive factor in you not attending. Please call Paul McMahon at 847-907-3412 if you need financial assistance. The cost includes three (3) nights accommodation, all meals, transport and materials. We can help if you need it! Please ask.

When:
Friday, November 7th through Monday, November 10th, 2008

Who Can Attend?
All high school students in their junior or senior year of high school. This is a co-ed retreat with separate sleeping facilities.
