Peer Ministry

The Holy Family Peer Ministry Program involves high school teens that have received the sacrament of Confirmation and choose to serve, lead and support their peers as they grow in their faith.  Peer ministers serve in the following areas of ministry:

FLAME Peer Ministry – Peers co-lead and prepare for FLAME sessions with an adult leader.  Time commitment involves approximately three Sunday’s per month from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., preparation of lesson plans outside of the classroom, and attendance of FLAME training sessions.

Peers may also serve as co-leaders in the Jr. High FAITH program. Teens assist the Jr. High catechist and help lead discussions during class. Time commitment consists of twenty Sunday evenings throughout the year and advance preparation for class.

Faith Aides are needed in the Family FAITH and Life program for assisting leaders in levels K through 6th grades on Mondays and Wednesdays and Children’s Liturgy of the Word on Sunday mornings.    Assistance is also needed for ‘FAITH Ins’ once per month on Saturdays from November through April.

Teen Mass – Peers plan and prepare for the weekly 4:00 p.m. Mass on Sunday.  They may also serve as greeters, ushers, or proclaimers during the mass. Time commitment involves attending teen Masses, planning sessions or liturgical training sessions.

Choir – Open to peer ministers that have a desire to sing or play a musical instrument during the 4:00 p.m. teen mass.  Time commitment consists of attending weekly practices.

Eucharistic Ministers – Peers serve communion at Masses.

Justice & Service – Peers coordinate and assist at monthly service activities for teens throughout the year.  Time commitment involves seven to ten hours per month depending on upcoming events.

Retreats – Peers assist adult leaders for the freshman or sophomore retreats.  One may help in the areas of food preparation, set up and take down, witness talks or group discussions.

Communications – Peers assist with audio visual and technical support at liturgies and with the taping of the radio show, Horizon’s.

Operations – Peers assist with building maintenance on a regular basis.
