Gala Thanks
We revisited and relived the 1980’s with our Gala two weeks ago. The event had great energy and by all standards was a real success. I am sure you know that SO many people work SO hard to make such an event like this fun, creative and successful. Planning takes months of time and energy by very invested people. Thank you to all of you who attended the event. Thanks to those of you who supported it without being present.

Much of the support comes from sponsors who believe in our mission. Please consider supporting theirs. Thank you to our following sponsors and donors:

Cornerstone National Bank
Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home
Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home
National Plastics
Archadeck
Care Roofing
John and Rita Canning
Donna and Tim Madel
Beth and Mike McMahon
Melissa and Mike Canning
The Struckmeyer Family
Beth and Tony Lupo
Jessica and Timothy Canning

I want to acknowledge and thank this year’s Gala Chairs, Melissa Canning and Katrina Dee. They brought the fun and abundance of the 80’s back and poured their hearts and souls into leading the efforts for a truly spectacular night.

I also want to thank Bernie Schaeffer who has brought dedicated leadership to Holy Family’s Operations, Finance and Development efforts for these past many years. Bernie has been the glue for the past several Galas, managing along with the chairs. He is letting go of the Operations and Development parts of his role, but will stay on to manage our Parish and Academy finances.

Melissa, Katrina and Bernie, your belief in our mission and passion for all things Holy Family is truly inspiring. THANKS SO MUCH!

Edmundite Lenten Social Justice Project
You still have time to support this year’s Lenten Social Justice Project by donating to help renovate the Casey Center that will house college student interns in Selma, Alabama. The Edmundite Mission has purchased a building and begun renovating it to become a home for young people from all over the country who will join the Edmundites in their efforts to serve the poorest of the Black community in four major forms of outreach: Health, Nutrition, Self-Reliance and Education. The Casey Center is an addition to several other facilities that the Edmundites use to carry out their work including a Clinic, Food & Nutrition Center and Health Facility.

If you did not attend Mass this past Sunday to see the video presentation that tells much more about this worthwhile cause, please go to our website and click on the livestream of this past Sunday’s Mass to see the video following the homily.

Here is a prayer in honor of St. Edmund of Canterbury who is the inspiration behind the great ministry that the Edmundites carry out. We can pray this in solidarity with them.

Prayer in Honor of St. Edmund of Canterbury
God, who raised up St. Edmund to be father of the poor and patron of afflicted children, please grant that I may learn from Edmund’s example how to love all God’s children, however poor or afflicted; that I may become, like him, eyes for the blind, feet for the lame, and a friend to strangers in trouble; and that by this intercession I may be protected from all evil and distress. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
