At the Annual Women’s Luncheon April 26, JOURNEYS|The Road Home named Sue Geegan as its “Woman of the Year” for 2016. Sue is the Director of the Human Concerns Community at Holy Family Parish in Inverness, Illinois.

The Human Concerns Community is comprised of more than 15 ministries that assist the community directly and work with charitable organizations. Volunteers sponsor a PADS site at the church, conduct clothing and food drives, respond to requests to help the needy, and in 2016, raised $60,000 to support JOURNEYS’ causes.

Ms. Beth Nabors, Executive Director of JOURNEYS|The Road Home, presented the award to Ms. Geegan for her extraordinary efforts to assist families in need especially in 2016 but also over the past several years.

Ms. Nabors said, “Sue and Holy Family have always been available for our clients. In addition to our clients’ basic needs, Holy Family and Sue have helped provide additional funds for an apartment or shelter in an emergency situation. They have even helped get donated cars so that homeless people can get or keep a job.”

Fr. Terry Keehan, Pastor of Holy Family, believes that Human Concerns is a cornerstone of the Holy Family Catholic community, “We could not be more proud of Sue and the ministry volunteers not only for their time and dedication but for setting a Christian example for our community. Sue and the volunteers are truly living the 2017 parish theme- ‘we are in this together!’ ”

Congratulations, Sue and everyone in the Human Concerns Community!
