This past July, 12 teens had the amazing opportunity to do what many in our community consider to be a little crazy; they spent 5 days in the wilderness.
Our Journeys program helped to send Holy Family teens, as well as teens from our sister parish St Malachy + Precious Blood to the Boundary Waters of Minnesota.The teens spent their days canoeing, cooking using what they carried on their backs, and navigating through lakes and rivers. But more importantly, these teens spent the week living in community, making new friends, and growing in their relationships with God. This experience was one that took our teens away from cell phones, away from distractions, and into an environment of acceptance and reflection. The teens had time to reflect on themselves and their lives while also gaining confidence in their own abilities, both physical and mental.
Thank you to all who supported our 12 teens in both financially and spiritually. You generosity helped to positively impact lives of those in our parish and the Chicagoland area.
